Building from the Ground Up
Mark Davis founded J.M. Davis Custom Homes in 1995 after learning construction from the ground up. He began his career at age 20 working with his uncle Jim Fields at James C. Fields and Company, starting with on-site cleanup and advancing to warranty and punch-list work. He progressed through roles as a carpenter and construction manager before establishing his own company.
A native North Carolinian from Wilson, NC, Mark relocated to Raleigh in 1985 and spent 40 years building award-winning custom homes across Wake County and Chatham County — two of North Carolina's most prestigious markets for upscale residential construction. He has now brought that same expertise to the Wilmington coastal areas.
Heart, Quality & Craftsmanship
Mark pours his heart into each house, customizing it to optimal functionality and use of space. He prioritizes homes that are both beautiful and energy efficient, tailored to clients' lifestyles.
"Some aspects of home building are incredibly challenging. It is hard for me to ask someone to do something challenging if I have never done it myself."
He values client input above all else, noting that some of the best ideas come from simply listening to his customers' wishes — ideas he still incorporates into homes he builds today. Mark uses extensive checklists to ensure quality and anticipate future home needs, so nothing is overlooked.
